Trip to Inis Oírr

Inis_Oirr
A weekend trip to Inis Oirr, one of the Aran Islands, is being planned for members of our branch. The idea behind this trip is that our musicians can spend time together in a fun and non-competitive environment. The weekend will comprise of walks and activities by day and a session in one of the islands’ 3 pubs in the evening. The trip is aimed especially as the 12-18 age group but all members are welcome. It would be advisable that anyone under 12 would be accompanied by a parent or guardian. The weekend comes highly recommended by other Comhaltas groups and the island is accustomed to hosting large groups of musicians. It is an ideal “bonding exercise” for our young musicians, who often only get to meet up at Fleadh practices. Playing in a relaxed and fun environment will improve their musicianship no end. Details are as follows:

The weekend is provisionally booked for the October Bank-Holiday weekend, leaving on Saturday morning, 25th and returning Monday afternoon, 27th. We will take a ferry crossing from Doolin which takes approximately 30 mins. The cost for the ferry is 13 euro per person (tbc). The hostel on the island has been provisionally booked exclusively for our branch and will cost 18 euro per person per night, continental breakfast included. The hostel consists of dorms sleeping 4/5/6. B&B accommodation is also available adjacent to hostel. Evening meals will be available in the hotel, Óstán Inis Oírr.

Please contact your class secretary if you wish to come along or Carmel on 0872420363 or carmelpower@hotmail.com.

As provisional booking is only made at this stage we want to confirm numbers asap to secure our weekend.
